Abstract

This study examines efforts to build a tolerant and friendly community area based on religious moderation in East Java. The background of the problem includes the high religious diversity in the province, which often leads to conflicts and social tensions. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentary studies. This study aims to argue that building a tolerant and friendly community area based on religious moderation is crucial as an effort to create an inclusive environment that supports tolerance, interfaith dialogue, education, and active participation of the multicultural society of East Java. After establishing such an area, it is hoped that the community can achieve openness, appreciation of differences, peaceful religious living, increased awareness of religious moderation, formation of strong social networks, and positive influence on the younger generation. The ultimate result can create an area known as a tolerant and safe place, thus attracting investment and tourism hubs in East Java.
